| I was removing one of these on a car I have been working on and thought it would help to make a post to save others from the issues I found. I contacted Brett Dempsey(Thanks again) before taking this off because I remember seeing something on here about one being damaged. Well, unfortunately this pulley had been removed before using the wrong type of puller and was already damaged. According to Brett the outside ring of the pulley is aluminum and will break or dimple if you use a regular claw style gear type puller to remove them. It can also pull against the seals between the inner and outer ring and possibly throw them off balance. Here is the damage a claw style puller will do to the outside ring of the ATI damper.



This is how the pulley is assembled on the car, but you will need to remove the large center crank shaft bolt first of course.

Then you can remove the center 3 bolts using a 5/16 12point socket. Only a 12point style socket will work on this.

It will then look like this.

Here is the correct harmonic puller to use when pulling the ATI damper. The one I got from autozone was missing the round push plug in the top left corner.

here is how you put the puller on using the 3 bolts you pulled off. I also used larger washers on them when I actually pulled it of the car.

Since I didn't have the press ring with the kit, I used a 15/16 craftsman socket, which fit perfectly inside the center hole, as the press point against the crank.



Then just crank on the center bolt to press the ATI damper off the car. Then just remove the puller and reinstall the 3 bolts with the outer small ring. ATI doesn't say to use lock tight on these 3 bolts when installing, like it does with the other screws, but a little wouldn't hurt. Brett Said the other screws and outer aluminum ring can be pulled off also and the center of the pulley is steel, so you could use a claw puller on that part without damage. I got the harmonic puller from autozone and returned it the next day, so it is free to use the correct style puller.

Unfortunately this pulley had the damage on it first, so we will have to send it off to ATI to have it repaired. Hopefully this helps someone save there expensive pulley from being damaged.
